Columbia State Community College proposal.

If I had to choose one thing I would like to propose it would be better seats for the class rooms (atleast for the Lawrenceburg Campus).

 The Lawrenceburg Campus has some of the most awful and most uncomfortable chairs that I have had to endure sitting in. Some benefits of having better chairs would be:

1. with more comfortable chairs students would be able to bare the long classes
2. Students would be able to not worry about whether or not the chair is going to break after having to sit in the chairs for 3 hours.

Are Libraries Becoming a Thing of The Past?

I feel that Libraries are becoming obsolete, but I also feel there is a certain niche. I feel like it is a pretty awesome thing that I can go on my phone, search up a book, and download it in a matter of seconds, but I know for people such as my parents or even some of my friends they hate to read books on their phones or tablets and they would rather have a physical book to read. One of the biggest things the internet has over the libraries is that you will be able to get new information right away unlike at the library you can't get newer information untilit has been published and then brought to the library.

What Social Media Would I Choose if I Only Had One Choice?

I am not one to really post anything to any of the Social Media's, but I do like to use them to keep up with different things/people in my life. If I had to choose just a single Social Media I would probably have to go with Facebook. The reason for going with Facebook would probably be due to the fact that no one I know really uses Twitter, and I do not have any interest in Pinterest.

Why Bad News Should be Given in Person

I believe that the reason you would want to give bad news to someone in person is because more times than not the bad news can not wait. Secondly, an example, let's say a close family member were to get hurt or worse would you rather: hear about it from Facebook or would you rather hear about it in person (or just straight from the source)?

An Example of Reciprocity

Reciprocity- the obligation to give back what you have recieved from others.

Reciprocity can be found in a lot of places. One website that comes to mind is the music player Spotify. Spotify is a free music player that let's you listen to music on your computer for free. The way they are able to do this is because after listening to a couple of songs you are forced to listen to a advertisement. Here is where reciprocity comes in.

Spotify Premium

Spotify premium gives you the option to pay a monthly fee and be able to listen to music offline, ad free, and with better quality.  As you can see in the screenshot above, they also have a free 30 day trial for their premium membership, which can be cancelled at no extra cost. this makes it hard for people to stop the payment when the free trial ends with it only costing $8/month.

Thank You Notes After a Job Interview. Should You Make Them?

There are many times in our life when we send a thank you note such as, after recieving gifts, after a wedding, and many other times, but what about after a job interview? Sending a thank you note after a interview can seem like a weird thing to do to some people. While it may seem weird it can really help your chances at landing your next job!

If you were to send a thank you note not all mediums work as well as others. You probably do not want to text, leave a voice mail, or use social media. Another medium that might could go either way would be a hand-written letter it really depends. Margot Carmichael Lester on Monster.com suggest using either e-mail or hand written letters and says they could help land your job. She also goes on to say hand-written letters could also hurt your chances if you do not have good handwriting.

In conlusion, I feel that a thank you note would not really make your chances of getting the job go down any. So next time you are interviewed for a job it may be a good idea to send a thank you note.

How to keep track of changes made in a microsoft word document

One of the many lesser known features of Microsoft Word is that you can make edits with comments without having to print a physical copy. today I will be showing how this can be done.

1. You will want to have the document that you want to edit already opened.
2. You will want to click on the review button as shown at the top of the page.

3. You will want to highlight any words or a spot you want to put a comment at as shown.

4. You can now make a new comment by pressing the button shown.

5. When you click the new comment button it will pop open a baloon for you to type what change you have made or to just leave a comment for whoever else might be working on the document with you.

 As you can see in the image above, the balloon will tell you who wrote the comment or edited it while also giving that specific person a certain color that will differ from someone else who adds a comment.

6. once you have made a comment as shown above you can highlight within the comment to mark out and to make any edits if needed as shown below 

7. The final step is that you can press the "review pane" button to see all the edits made in the document as shown.

Social Loafing. What is it?

      Social loafing is when someone in a group of people does not try as hard while working together or working on some kind of project as a group due to that person feeling that there are many people working on the project so they feel whether it be involuntarily or not.
      Some of the ways a team could circumvent social loafing would be:
1. Inform the members of your team.- One of the biggest problems with social loafing is that it can happen without you knowing it. Informing the members of your team about social loafing is one way you can save a lot of time and boost productivity.
2. Group size- Group sizes can play another very big role as to whether there will be social loafing. According to The Journal of Management  the greater the size of the group the easier it is for an individual to hide behind its size.
3. Group cohesiveness- Coworkers who are friends are going to be able to work better together than coworkers who barely know eachother. So if an individuals group was filled with friends he would be more inclined to work better and not fall into social loafing.

      In conclusion, I believe that as long as more people know what social loafing is they will be able to catch themselves before it can become a problem for them and their group.
